BCKST in Bellingham Herald

BCKST took third place in a sprint kayak showdown known as the Pacific Cup! But don't take my word for it, just pick up a copy of your local Bellingham Herald and read all about it!

Parent Volunteer, Sara Mostad, has once again stepped up to the plate and spun a tale of BCKST dominance. The Bellingham Herald took her story and ran with it in both digital and print publications. If you don't have a chance to grab a hard copy today, make sure to check out the digital link here: Bham Herald.

The Pacific Cup was held in Maple Ridge, BC and 17 clubs from the Pacific Northwest and Canada flocked to Whonnock Lake to vie for U16 Sprint Canoe/Kayak glory. The event was absolutely spectacular, professionally run, grace by beautiful weather, and incredibly well attended. Just shy of 300 kids raced for two nonstop days of back-to-back heats and finals.

Every athlete on the team performed incredibly! Pushing themselves faster and harder than ever before in individual races and coming together marvelously for team boat performances.

Club Director, Steve Scoggins, somehow ensured that every athlete was able to compete in the maximum number of races, juggled our limited fleet of individual and team boats, and made sure every boat was set up and ready for use in the next race. Watching him was like witnessing a masterful symphony conductor and the two days of Pacific Cup nonstop racing, his logistical masterpiece. No doubt he will follow it up with an incredibly well run race this weekend!

Finally, a huge thank you to the paddling community for all you do for the incredible athletes of BCKST. Your support means so much to each one of them and makes it possible for the Team to grow the next generation of paddlers!

Happy paddling and see you all at Lake Samish!
